About
The Department of Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana at Agastya Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Koppal, is devoted to the art and science of Ayurvedic pharmaceutics. The department focuses on the transformation of raw natural substances into safe, effective, and standardized medicines through classical pharmaceutical processes described in Ayurveda.
With a strong emphasis on precision, purity, and process standardization, the department trains students in the preparation of herbo-mineral formulations, classical dosage forms, and innovative adaptations suitable for contemporary healthcare needs. The teaching approach integrates traditional methods such as Shodhana, Marana, and Samskara with modern quality control parameters, ensuring both authenticity and safety.
The department also promotes hands-on training through well-equipped laboratories and pharmacy units, where students gain practical expertise in drug preparation, dosage form design, preservation techniques, and dispensing practices. Special attention is given to maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and developing a scientific understanding of Ayurvedic pharmaceutics in alignment with regulatory standards.
Vision
To establish the department as a center of excellence in Ayurvedic pharmaceutics by preserving classical Rasashastra principles while advancing safe, standardized, and globally acceptable herbal and herbo-mineral formulations.
