About
The Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga at Agastya Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Koppal, is dedicated to the promotion of preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyle practices, and holistic well-being based on Ayurvedic principles. The department emphasizes the concept of “Swasthasya Swasthya Rakshanam”—the preservation of health—by integrating classical regimens with modern public health perspectives.
The department adopts a lifestyle-oriented and community-focused approach, guiding students to understand daily (Dinacharya), seasonal (Ritucharya), and ethical (Sadvritta) practices essential for maintaining physical, mental, and social health. Special emphasis is placed on the practical application of these principles in contemporary living conditions, particularly addressing lifestyle disorders prevalent in both rural and urban populations.
Yoga is integrated as a scientific and therapeutic discipline, focusing on physical postures (Asanas), breathing techniques (Pranayama), and mental well-being practices. The department encourages evidence-based application of Yoga in disease prevention, stress management, and rehabilitation.
With active involvement in community outreach programs, health camps, school health initiatives, and awareness campaigns, the department plays a vital role in promoting public health. Students are trained to design and implement preventive healthcare strategies, fostering a proactive approach to wellness.
